Harkaway Primary School is participating in the Jump Rope for Heart program, a national initiative that promotes physical activity while raising funds for heart research, education, and support programs across Australia.
This program provides students with an opportunity to build healthy habits, develop new skills, and learn the importance of supporting others in the community. Funds raised contribute to important research and programs that help improve heart health and save lives.
Students will take part in skipping activities during school hours, organised by their teachers. They are also encouraged to practise skipping at home to further develop their skills and confidence. The program supports student wellbeing by encouraging regular physical activity and goal setting.
The program will commence on 30 April and run through to the end of the school term.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to support their child’s involvement by registering online and assisting them to participate in fundraising activities. To get started, families can register at https://jumprope.org.au/parents, set a fundraising goal, and share their child’s page with family and friends. Students can also log their skipping activity online and track their progress throughout the program.
For further details about the program, including how it works and how funds raised make a difference, families can refer to the parent and guardian guide available here: Parent_and_Guardian_Guide.
Students who take part in fundraising will receive a reward based on the level achieved. Prizes are allocated according to fundraising totals and are not redeemable for cash. Cash donations are also accepted, and sponsorship forms will be distributed to students in the coming week.
We thank our school community for supporting this important initiative and helping to promote healthy lifestyles while contributing to programs that support families across Australia.
